General Idea of the Client's Business

Aksel Industries (Pvt.) Ltd is a rubber products manufacturing company. Customers provide customized molds of the required product and are supplied with the required quantity of items. Usually there is some negotiation leading up to the agreement on the final design of the mold between the customer and manufacturer. Factors like rubber quality, density and thickness are also considered along with the shape of the design.

Customers consist mainly of foreign companies such as car factories and furniture dealers. Most customers are from European countries. Local customers are not catered to. Most orders are in large quantities and are produced on mass scale.

The Search for Hosts

Our first step in implementation begins with the search for a proper site host. We plan to do implementation directly on a free hosting server. This way development is cot-effective and more productive as team members can develop together from any location via the internet.

As an initial step we created an account on http://www.110mb.com. However, there is the issue that the server does not support ftp. We hope to find a more suitable host in the future

Alternate Client

In addition to Aksel Rubber(Pvt) Ltd we also chose an alternate client. This project consisted of developing an out-sourced system from Just In Time Holdings(Pvt) Ltd.

This project aimed to design a crime management system for the Sri Lankan Police. Basic requirements indicated that crimes locations and details should be updated and recorded and nearby police stations must be alerted of current incidents.

However, we were advised not to take up this project as the security component was considerably vast and also due to the fact that a lot of programming logic would be involved making it unsuitable for a component based Rapid Application Development project.
